Honesty is to American justice as faith is to religion. Our system of justice relies on the truthfulness of those administering it, which is why it takes a miracle to get through it.

Moreover, in the U.S., justice has morphed into an extraordinarily expensive, arcane, no holds barred, political theater of war between criminal prosecutors and defense attorneys with life and liberty at stake where wrongfully charged defendants become additional crime victims.

SPEEDY TRIAL = QUICK CONVICTION

IS A “SPEEDY TRIAL” CONSTITUTIONALLY GUARANTEED? The Sixth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution says: “ In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed…”

These guarantees ''are the most basic rights preserved by our Constitution;'' fundamental liberties embodied in the Bill of Rights. The due process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment makes them applicable to all States.

5 Years - No Appeal in Mickey Thompson Murders Conviction?

Though the actual shooters were never captured and he was never connected with the crimes, Michael F. Goodwin was convicted in January of 2007 of ordering the murders of Mickey Thompson and his wife Trudy, gunned down in their driveway in March of 1988.  Goodwin, who created the sport of motocross racing in NFL stadiums called Supercross, was sentenced to two consecutive life-without-parole terms.  He has always maintained his innocence, claiming a conspiracy between the District Attorneys of Los Angeles, Orange County, law enforcement, and Thompson’s family.  He contends he has proof of this conspiracy but just cannot get before a court.
